Since June we’ve been holding our Family and Friends Support Group in The Leveson Centre.

The meetings are for anyone with a friend or family member who has been affected by cancer to join us for a cuppa and a relaxed conversation with others in similar situations.

The group will run until October, discussing a range of topics such as benefits and financial advice, relaxation and well-being tips, mental first aid, and much more. Through the group, we hope to grant those with similar experiences a space to come together and share their stories, receive advice and find community amongst each other.

Being diagnosed with cancer affects not only the patient themselves, but also those close to them. Some friends or family members may have to step into the role of carer, taking on responsibilities for someone who can no longer do those things themselves. Many may go through emotional upheaval, facing new anxieties and challenges as the situation unfolds. Support groups like ours are created to alleviate some of the strain and isolation that individuals may be feeling and give them a sense of control or belonging.

If you are interested in joining our support group, let us know so we can make sure to provide plenty of tea and treats for your arrival. The next meetings will be on 10th August, 7th September and 5th October. Get in touch on 01904 202647 or email support@thelevesoncentre.org.uk to attend.
