In The Leveson Centre, we currently offer a series of 6 free complementary therapy sessions for those affected by cancer. We’re pleased to announce that these sessions have proven to be so successful that we’re bringing on a second therapist!
Complementary therapies include a range of practices and treatments usually outside of evidence-based medicine. They can be used alongside conventional medical treatments from your doctor or healthcare provider, and many people with cancer find them to be beneficial to their health and wellbeing.
The therapies on offer:
- Aromatherapy
- Hypnotherapy
- Reiki
- Reflexology
- Massage
- Daoyin Tao
- Reiki Drumming
These therapies have been found to help promote relaxation, reduce anxiety and insomnia, ease nausea and fatigue, and help you find your own coping mechanisms. We are glad to welcome Sarah on board as our second complementary therapist, working alongside Alethea to allow more patients to book sessions, as well as offering additional therapies on top of what we originally provided.

Sarah is a highly qualified complementary therapist who has followed her heart, developing her skills and qualifications in massage and Reiki to become an Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Degree Master Practitioner, teacher and Reiki Drum Practitioner. She has trained with the Harrogate Natural Health School to enhance her skills and treatments in cancer and palliative care and now looks forward to welcoming cancer patients to The Leveson Centre.

Working alongside Sarah in The Leveson Centre, Alethea has over 10 years’ experience providing complementary therapy to a range of different patients, with a particular focus on cancer care. She has a background in palliative care as a Registered Nurse, holding multiple qualifications in the therapies she offers.
“The demand for our complementary therapy programme has been beyond our expectations,” Alethea said, following the success of the therapy’s launch. “We have seen first-hand how these therapies have made a difference in the lives of our patients, and we are committed to expanding the programme to accommodate the increasing need for these services.”

At the Centre, we hope to see our complementary therapies continue to benefit cancer patients for a long time to come. Debbie Smith, General Manager of The Leveson Centre, commented, “We are delighted to see the positive response to our complementary therapy programme at The Leveson Centre. Our goal is to provide a wide range of holistic support services to cancer patients and their families, and being our first service offered, we are so pleased to see the positive impact it has had so far on improving symptoms, reducing stress, and improving the overall quality of life for cancer patients.”
