What is a Progressive Muscle Relaxation Group?

The aim of the relaxation group is to use the ‘progressive muscle relaxation technique’ to enable people to find deep relaxation. You will be able to sit or lie with your feet up in our comfortable recliners, with pillows and throws available to keep you warm. Relaxing music will be played while complementary therapist Alethea talks you through a deeply relaxing experience.

People are encouraged to ensure their mobile phones are on silent for the duration of the session.

Who can attend?

Our relaxation groups comprise of 4-6 people who are looking to find a helpful technique to learn to deeply relax. The relaxation class will be available for people who feel it may be helpful for them to learn a relaxation technique which can be used at any time they would like.

There will be a 15 minute consultation prior to the relaxation class to ensure the sessions will be of benefit to you and to gain your consent to the group.

When and where are the sessions held?

There will be 4 sessions held weekly on Monday afternoons at 2-3:30pm in the Family Room of The Leveson Centre.

After the session

Water will be available before and after the sessions with time given to allow feedback at the end of the 4 sessions.

After care advice includes to drink plenty of water and rest.
